Anyway its time for some rare old school grooves. iL MoRo brings you another fine selection from deep in the archives of 80's Funk and R&B. Ok you might notice Ray Parker Jr. on here hahaha. Now we all know him as the dude that sang Ghostbusters but listen up...he is a LEGIT Funk, R&B and Jazz guy. "Let's Get Off" is probably one of my favorite cuts in this mix.

A toast to all the people that exercised their right to vote last month! And I'm happy that they actually counted this time. Yes the holiday season is upon us and with that comes a new mix from yours truly. Now with this being such a historic time in politics I've peppered in quite a few tracks that are directly inspired by Barack Obama's beyond stellar campaigning efforts and subsequent victory.
In addition, keep your ears open for some "newness" from Ludacris' Theater of the Mind, and a few hip hop legends are back! That's right Scarface (of Geto Boys fame) dropped Emeritus on Dec. 2nd and EPMD's got something in the pot as well....and yes I've included a taste test.

Blaxploitation Radio

I put together a collection of songs from some of the great Blaxploitation films of the 1970's. These were films that defined the image of the black pimps, hustlers, and ghetto heroes of that era. Yes some of the films portray negative and stereotypical ideas and imagery... hence the term black-exploitation! But the movement as a whole can be seen as a positive because it marks the first time that people of color in America began producing, directing, and starring in their own films on a large scale. This during a time when very few blacks had leading roles in Hollywood. From a production standpoint Blaxploitation films range from the really superb to the really low-budget worthy of the infamous B rating. With that said, the true constant throughout this genre of film is its music. The soundtracks were often better than the films themselves and almost always were composed or performed by the top Funk, Soul and R&B acts of that time. Don't believe me? Well have a listen...

Summer Knockout Mix

Ok so I decided to call it Summer Knockout after I found the Mike Tyson sound bite that I just had to kick things off with! This mixshow serves a couple of purposes. First as always to showcase some of the new new hotness out there but also I wanted to revisit some jams I came across a couple of months back I feel have not gotten enough exposure...particularly some cuts from 9th Wonder & Buckshot's joint venture entitled "The Formula".

Another thing of interest.... NaS and RZA just dropped new albums with a strikingly identical song called "They Can't Stop Me/Us Now" that I have blended together. The RZA version is produced by.....the RZA of course, while the NaS version is put together by Saalam Remi. Both tracks contain samples from the song "Message From a Blackman". Aside from that the mix is full of other gems to feast on. Enjoy
